Abstract: Little Women is a classic novel written by Louisa May Alcott, which tells the story of the March sisters during the Civil War in America. Although it has been more than a hundred years since its publication, this masterpiece is still read by people of all ages around the world and has been produced into films and television series. Such popularity results from the theme of the book, which revolves around happy and harmonious family, sincere love and positive attitude towards life, self-improvement and female consciousness. This paper attempts to analyze the theme of Little Women and find out why the author conveyed such ideas in the specific social background. Meanwhile, in the final section, this essay will probe into the potential realistic significance for the feminism issues of modern society in China.
